Kid’s Korner Draws Record Number of People
For the past few years, 15 communities along a 120 mile stretch of the Historic Dixie Highway have been coming together to celebrate the history that connects them all. Each community celebrates this historic highway in its own way with town-wide rummage sales, parades, and various other events. However, this year those who came to enjoy the festivities in Hoopeston were treated to some new and exciting additions to the festival. In addition to the Pinewood Car Derby, Flea Market, Cow Pie Bingo and Fishing Derby, Hoopeston residents and visitors had something else to enjoy.
Kid’s Korner, became a popular spot for many people during the towns Drivin’ the Dixie Days Festival. This area which was sponsored by the Hoopeston Regional Health Center, offered families a chance to come and enjoy the afternoon together. In the Kid’s Korner area children and their parents were offered free snow cones, free cotton candy, face painting, crafts, carnival games, and a wide array of inflatable entertainments. This is the first time the Hoopeston Regional Health Center has sponsored something like this, but it will not be the last. With a record number of attendees, an estimated 1,800 just at the Kid’s Korner, this is sure to be an event that will return next year.
